The UBC English Language Institute is one of thousands of locations where individuals can take an IELTS exam. Citizenship applicants will be required to submit the results from CIC-approved third-party tests like the IELTS or provide evidence of completion of secondary or post-secondary education in English or French to be have their application processed.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) announced today that the majority of citizenship applicants will be required to demonstrate language proficiency in English or French when they apply, effective November 1st, 2012.
Currently, CIC assesses applicants’ language proficiency through the interaction their staff have with the applicant, and from the applicant’s citizenship knowledge test results.
Under coming changes, citizenship applicants will be required to submit the results of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, and score at least 4.0 and 4.5 on the speaking and listening portions, respectively.
In order for applicants to demonstrate French language proficiency, they will be required to submit the results of the Test d’évaluation de français (TEF), and score at least 181 and 145 on the speaking and listening portions.
Applicants can have the language test requirement waived if they can show evidence of having completed secondary or post-secondary education in English or French.
The new language requirements will only apply to applicants aged 18-54.

Recently i have get response from CIC nova , In response officer said i am not satisfy about your English proficiency , i have get certificate from MPNP , I was meet my ilets requirement at the time, and that’s way MPNP issue my certificate , i have get in L:5 , R:3.5, W:5.5, S:5 over all i have Get 5 bands , nd my NOC Skill category B , which required 5 bands ,, now my concern is i did my ilets test again nd i get 5.5 bands i meet reading , writing , speaking requirement , just i did not meet listening requirement which accordingly cic web site minimum listening requirement is 5 bands, nd i have get 4 , just i want to know that , they effect my cause or they accept my cause , because i have get overall 5.5 .

Recently CIC nova sent me email regarding my application PR cause , in letter officer said you don’t have sufficient English proficiency, cause of this you don’t have get job in your intend occupation and you don’t help Manitoba economically establish , my concern is right now i have get job in Manitoba and i am applying for appeal , shud i apply for appeal or sent new application ??
I applied for study visa for Canada. I have got 6.00 bands (average) of ILET. The study visa by the Embassy for refused due to low band. If I improved my ILET bands more than 6 bands, can I apply again for study visa.

I want to apply for the Canadian immigration under federal skilled worker program.
It says on the CIC website that i Must score 6 in each of the bands in the IELTS exam i.e., listening, reading, writing and speaking respectively. I appeared in the IELTS exam many times now but i couldn’t score 6 in each of the bands.
my latest result is of 16-aug-2014 and i scored listening 6.5, reading 5.5, writing 5.5 and listening 6 … Can I apply with these results for the Canadian immigration? will my application get accepted?

I am physiotherapist and going to apply under FSW category. I scored 6.5 band in IELTS general training with Listening 6.5 Reading 6 Writing 6 and Speaking 7. My spouse cannot give IELTS. My spouse education background is not strong.

The diploma, certificate or transcript should be in English or French. If it is not in English or French, you must also send a certified English or French translation of the document. It should clearly show that the program was completed with English or French as the language of instruction.
Include this document with your citizenship application.

my Occupation is Insurance Claims Investigator (which is fall under NOC Code 1312) .

I am eligible under CEC PR program, as per language requirement I require to meet CLB7 in each of the component. In 2 CELPIP test sittings I achieved the required benchmark. In my first exam, I got less than required score in 1 component and in 2 exam sitting I achieved it which was failed in first test sitting, but I lost in other component which has completed in 1 exam sitting. May I still send application with 2 test reports to meet the requirement and it is acceptable by CIC. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
